Zito Gets No Decision - Astros beat Giants 7-3
Monday, May 12th, 2008Hell, it isn’t a loss.
Barry Zito took the mound today taking on the Houston Astros. The Giants gave him early support jumping to a 3 run lead by the 4th. Fred Lewis started it off in the 3rd by doubling home Emanuel Burriss. Omar Vizquel matched Freddies double with one of his own scoring Lewis.
In the 4th, rookie Jon Boeker hit a homerun to right to make it 3-0.
3-0 lead should be enough for an ace like Barry Zito to hold correct? Negative.
After a Miguel Tejada RBI sac fly, Lance Berkman did what he has been doing all season, hit a home run. Zito was pulled as he hit his season long inning max of SIX. He did somehow manage to hit 100 pitches for the 4th time this season.
Since the Giants bullpen sucks, the Astros scored four more runs and thats the ball game.
Zito’s ERA is now down to a beautiful 6.58 but is still stuck without a win this season. Its becoming an awful thing to watch for Giants fans, the fact that Zito has not thrown a pitch in the seven inning this entire season says a lot. Although he is still averaging over 90 pitches a game. Zito will start next against the Chicago White Sox, shit.
